# Chapter 14: Apisara Makes a Plan

All was quiet in the halls of the Main Hive. The guards walked their beats and nodded as they passed each other. Deeper within the Hive, Queen Apisara sat at her writing desk and pondered the latest reports. It seemed that Cocarro was offering a lot to the Beekeepers who had passed Icerax’s trial, although there had been some concerns raised.

She sighed deeply. The demands of Queenship never eased. Even after bringing the Bees to safety, and overseeing the discovery of Cocarro, there was still so much to do. According to the reports, there were at least two other universes out there to reconnect with, not to mention finding the Pests and putting a stop to them once and for all.

Apisara flipped through a stack that she’d set aside. It seemed that Cocarro Crystals were in short supply but high demand. Perhaps there was a way she could meet some of the demand. After all, the Royal Inventory had been collecting Cocarro items as soon as contact with Cocarro was established, so there was a stockpile of items available to distribute. The only question was, how to distribute them fairly?

Perhaps there was a way to reward engagement, but not too freely. The crystals were still very valuable, after all. This required some thought, she’d call her advisors together in the morning. For now, she needed to get some rest.

The next morning, with her advisors, Apisara raised the issue. “Thank you for coming at such short notice. There is one thing on the agenda right now. What do you think is the best way to increase access to Cocarro Crystals? I definitely don’t just want to hand them out, but I can’t decide if we should look to find a long-term, sustainable solution, or if it should be a big one-off event with lump giveaways. Your thoughts are welcome.”

The Queen’s advisors looked at each other and mumbled to themselves while they thought. Eventually, one of them perked up and said, “Your Majesty. What if we include them in the monthly reward scheme?”

Another immediately shook her head and replied, “No, that won’t work. Apologies, Your Majesty. That’s not an engaging prospect, nor is it really a long-term answer. Instead, I propose that we revert back to including them in Hunting rewards, except with some conditions. For example, only certain Generations of Bees would be able to receive the crystals as Hunting Rewards. Or, limiting which Lands could give out crystals and rotating that daily. Or..” She shrugged. “Anyone else thought of anything?”

Apisara nodded thoughtfully. “Yes, I agree. Thank you Pollyanna, that is a sensible suggestion. It also allows the Beekeepers to earn any bonus rewards. I think some restrictions will still need to be navigated on who can earn crystals, and how many, but this is a good start. Before I dismiss you, does anyone have anything else they think worth discussing?”

The advisor looked around the room at each other in anticipation, but none of them made any indication of having anything to say. “Right, very good. Thank you again for your time. Pollyanna, please stay back, I’d like to discuss some particulars with you about your suggestion.”

As the other advisors bowed to the Queen and left the room, Pollyanna joined Apisara at her corner desk to discuss the details of how to reward Beekeepers with crystals, and how to announce it to everyone.
